Develop your electro-mechanical skills as part of Gulmay’s service team at our primary factory in Byfleet, helping to test, diagnose and repair high-voltage generators and associated equipment.

You will gain practical experience while supporting RMA administration and scheduling, maintaining accurate repair records and working with colleagues across Materials, Production and Service to complete repairs efficiently.

Purpose

To support the testing, diagnosis and repair of customers’ products in accordance with Gulmay’s test procedures and specifications. This role offers an opportunity to develop practical electro-mechanical service skills while supporting RMA administration and scheduling.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

Testing, fault diagnosis and repair

  • Test and repair customers’ products by following internal procedures and specifications.
  • Support the diagnosis of electrical, electronic and mechanical faults.
  • Assist with rebuilding high-voltage tanks and chassis in accordance with the failure prevention and repair plan.
  • Support system setup and testing activities.
  • Inspect completed work and ensure all associated paperwork is accurate and complete.
  • Liaise with the Materials and Production teams to obtain the components required for repairs.
  • Assist with maintaining and repairing test equipment.
  • Carry out practical mechanical repairs and soldering where competent to do so.

RMA administration and scheduling

  • Use the RMA system to prioritise and schedule work and record repair information.
  • Raise RMA numbers and provide the relevant information when requested.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records throughout the repair process.
  • Support the preparation of monthly RMA activity reports.
  • Help ensure repairs progress in a timely manner and are completed in line with agreed priorities.

Quality and team support

  • Help maintain the company’s ISO 9001 accreditation by following applicable quality procedures.
  • Support other service and operational activities when required.
  • Maintain safe, organised and compliant working practices at all times.

Person specification

Essential requirements

  • Relevant practical experience or training in electrical, electronic or mechanical work.
  • A practical, hands-on approach and an interest in electro-mechanical testing, fault diagnosis and repair.
  • Ability to follow technical procedures and written instructions accurately.
  • Good computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise a varied workload and work effectively under pressure and to tight schedules.
  • Good numerical skills and a logical approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate records.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable and willing to learn.
  • A positive, collaborative attitude and the ability to build effective working relationships.

Desirable requirements

  • A qualification in electronic engineering, electrical engineering or a similar discipline.
  • Experience of testing, repairing or assembling electro-mechanical products.
  • Experience of diagnosing electrical or electronic faults.
  • Practical soldering skills.
  • Experience of working in a high-voltage environment.
  • Experience of RMA administration or production scheduling.
  • Experience of working within an ISO 9001 quality management system.
