Join the team at Gulmay’s primary factory in Byfleet, testing high-voltage generators and associated components to ensure complete quality and process compliance. You’ll work from technical specifications and circuit diagrams, produce detailed test reports, record non-conformances and help maintain test equipment – using your electronics knowledge and fault-finding skills to protect the quality of every product.

Responsible to: Test Cell Leader; in their absence, the Test Manager.

Purpose

Testing of Gulmay generators to ensure 100% quality and process compliance.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

  • Strict compliance with health and safety practices and company procedures.
  • Test associated components and generators in accordance with test specifications, completing detailed test reports.
  • Record any non-conformance in a data log.
  • Support regular maintenance of test equipment and comply with 6S discipline in working areas.

Person specification

Essential requirements

  • Proven experience of working with analogue and digital circuitry.
  • At least five years’ experience in a similar test role.
  • Experience in a technically complex, low-volume test cell.
  • Good PC skills, including Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively at all levels and work as a team player.
  • Ability to read circuit diagrams, wiring diagrams, and schematics, and follow written instructions.
  • Experience of problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • Self-motivated, with a continuous-improvement mindset.
  • Flexible approach to interdepartmental support when required.
  • Familiarity with test-bench equipment, including oscilloscopes, digital multimeters (DMMs), and power supply units (PSUs).
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting products within health and safety regulations.

Desirable requirements

  • Experience of working with Engineering to develop the testing of new products and create test plans and procedures.
  • High-power switch-mode PSU electronics experience.
  • Hands-on analogue, high-voltage, or power electronics experience.
  • Knowledge of high-voltage generator equipment or similar engineered products.
  • CAD or MATLAB experience.
  • PCB soldering and testing experience.
  • Experience of fault-finding to component level.
  • Experience with radiation testing and compliance procedures.
  • HND, HNC, or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline preferred.
