Gulmay Strengthens its Management Team

Gulmay has made a series of appointments which reflect the company’s growing international reach. This is not simply a question of replacing staff. New senior positions within the company will help power development of product ranges, global business and customer satisfaction. The company is developing and growing its position as a global leader in the design and manufacture of x-ray generators and controllers.

New roles include that of Dr Rod Wilson as Engineering Director and Mark Jewell as Director Global Business Development. With business expansion in China, Europe and the USA, Gulmay is investing heavily in the x-ray security sector as well as in NDT. A brief profile of the new appointments is below, but there will be more to follow as Gulmay grows to offer more services and products to new and existing clients.

Director Global Business Development

As well as this important new role, Mark Jewell continues to be MD of Gulmay USA, and Director of Gulmay Electronics in China. Mark opened the sales, service and manufacturing facility near Atlanta, Georgia, USA, in 2008 after many years in the x-ray industry. His new position will see Gulmay expand into new areas of the globe and new industries, while ensuring all existing customers receive world-class service.

Engineering Director

This new position will thrust Gulmay forward as the ‘best in class’ provider of x-ray generator technology. Dr Wilson spent 20 years working for the FTSE100 company Smiths Group, as VP Product at Smiths Detection (a £600m division). Before coming to Gulmay he was on the management board of the SME Trolex, building a world-class engineering team. He plays French Horn in local symphony orchestras.

Security Business Development Manager

Bally Panesar takes up this newly created position within the company after working as a senior director with Rapiscan Systems, a customer of Gulmay. He has 17 years’ experience in the x-ray security industry, ten at management level. His experience encompasses everything from aesthetic development to bringing a concept into production. He speaks five languages including Hindi and Swahili and also holds a patent for an x-ray security inspection machine.

Retiring as Technical Sales Director

Peter’s responsibilities covered both commercial and technical areas of the company. After ten years with Gulmay, he will be retiring at the end of 2016 with a debt of gratitude from the company. With Gulmay expanding, his responsibilities will now be taken up by Chris Wheeler and Andrew Platten.

Senior Account Manager

Chris Wheeler has been customer-facing at Gulmay for seven years, and now he will be using his experience of the company and the industry to expand sales and marketing activities across Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Customer Support Manager

Andrew Platten already has a decade of experience at Gulmay, from Senior Test Engineer to Production Manager. As Customer Support Manager his core responsibilities focus on technical support and management of Gulmay’s in-house repair department. The expansion will ensure an even higher level of technical support for customers. Andrew has spent the last four years studying hard for a management degree.

Sales and Marketing Manager

Mary Sun has joined Gulmay Electronics China after more than ten years’ experience in a sales and marketing role with Innovatest, Shanghai. Her knowledge and enthusiasm will be a great asset to the organisation as it expands into the Chinese markets.
